Elon's toilet

An awareness campaign that reaches all the way to Mars

Elon Musk has already chalked up a long list of bold achievements: founding SpaceX, taking Tesla global, and becoming a near-icon for tech and innovation lovers everywhere. As he hit the milestone of turning 50, there came a less glamorous, but important, reality: at this age the risk of colon cancer rises, and an annual stool-test is highly recommended. Recognising that many still don’t know this, vzw Stop Darmkanker teamed up with LDV United for a bold awareness stunt, one that reaches far beyond our atmosphere.

The Concept

Knowing Musk’s dream of living on Mars, the campaign gave him a symbolic gift on his 50th birthday: a plot of land on Mars, just large enough to install his own toilet. The site was christened “Elon’s Toilet”, complete with an official certificate, and shipped to him along with several stool-test kits, so he can begin the check-ups now on Earth, and well into his future off-world plan.

The result

The big reveal? A personal tweet to Musk linking to elonstoilet.com, an open-letter he can scroll through as he heads “outwards”. The stunt brings a light-hearted twist, but delivers a serious message: once you hit 50, an annual stool-test could make all the difference.

With this playful yet powerful move, vzw Stop Darmkanker delivers a vital message in a shareable and international way, with a wink at Mars, and a nudge towards health.
