Lunar Strike
To promote Lunar Strike, a new game by Cognition Europe, we built an immersive teaser website that lets users scroll through the game itself. The site plays a pre-recorded in-game video that reacts smoothly to your scrolling, creating the feeling of actually walking through the game world.
Gamified details make the experience come alive — like a slowly depleting oxygen level that drops faster if you “move” too quickly.
How did we do it
Under the hood, we used Python to fine-tune the video’s framerate and Vimeo for hosting, while JavaScript, GSAP, and Lenis handle all scrolling and interaction logic. We also built a clever hotspot system that triggers easter eggs at precise moments and positions within the video, revealing hidden lore and background details.
To add even more depth, users can subtly pan and zoom within the video — making the entire experience feel almost three-dimensional.
Oh yeah, did we mention we started building this a week before a big award show where the game was announced? Talking about deadlines!
